“Presuming a reservoir of goodness…”

“…in others can be a risk. And there will be times when the process disappoints you.”

Right now, the process of local governance is really, really disappointing. The covenant between stakeholder and representative is broken. The agency that accompanies the position when a representative is sworn in has been abused and misused. It’s hard to not feel like we are heading toward another era of feudalism.

I won’t stop fighting for what’s right. I won’t lose faith in myself or in the goodness of democracy. I won’t stop fighting for an egalitarian society. President Obama’s words are manna to me. Words that have a feel of divinity to them, that will hopefully help me get through the very difficult times ahead.

I promise to keep standing up. I promise to keep saying “I’m sorry, please forgive me, I love you and I thank you” to all my relatives. I will be the light when I can. When my light dims, I will seek the light of others to act as a bellows to the embers of my fight.
